Clovehush began with a lost earring, found three days later at the bottom of a coat pocket. After that, every little treasure deserved a proper home.

Where the name comes from

A clove is tiny, warm and a little old-fashioned, the kind of thing kept in a spice drawer for years and still treasured. "Hush" is the pause at the end of the day, when rings come off and earrings are set down beside the bed. Put together, Clovehush is about those small, calm moments and the small, pretty objects that belong to them.

What we make

We make one thing, and try to make it lovely: a round glazed ceramic dish about 5 inches across, printed edge to edge with original artwork. There are no sizes to puzzle over and no sets you don't need. Just choose the picture you would most like to see every morning.

How we choose a design

Each pattern has to work on a small round canvas, where the eye takes in the whole picture at once. We look for artwork that feels calm rather than busy, with colour that holds up next to gold, silver and pearls. If a design would look just as good on a paper napkin, it doesn't make the cut.
